THE LABORATORY AT A GLANCE
The Laboratory of Hygiene, Epidemiology & Quality of Life at the Department of Medicine, University of Patras, studies the relationship between the environment, water, food and population health. Guided by the One Health approach, it connects high-quality research with applied public health practice and with the education of the next generation of health scientists.
MISSION
The mission of the Laboratory is to generate, transmit and apply scientific knowledge for the prevention of disease, the promotion of health and the improvement of population quality of life.
Research
Environmental microbiology, water and food safety, epidemiological surveillance, antimicrobial resistance and human biomonitoring, carried out through competitive European and national research projects.
Services
Laboratory and molecular analyses, risk assessment, water and food safety planning, and scientific support for public health authorities, organisations and businesses.
Education
Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervision of doctoral research, and continuing professional development programmes for health practitioners.
