Message from the director

The Laboratory of Hygiene, Epidemiology & Quality of Life is an established academic unit of the Department of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Patras, mandated to serve the educational and research needs of the fields of Hygiene, Epidemiology, Public Health and Quality of Life.

The Laboratory’s scientific activity is grounded in the One Health approach and encompasses environmental microbiology, water and food safety, epidemiological surveillance, infection prevention and control, antimicrobial resistance and human biomonitoring. This work is carried out through competitive European and national research programmes, as well as through institutional partnerships with public health authorities, academic and research institutions and industry stakeholders.

The Laboratory supports the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula of the Department of Medicine, the supervision of doctoral research, and the continuing professional development of health practitioners, with a consistent commitment to scientific integrity, quality assurance and the evidence-based support of health policy.

This website provides information on the Laboratory’s composition, infrastructure, research and teaching activities, and the services it offers. Proposals for collaboration are warmly welcomed.
